The price of wheat flour soared by Rs 2 per kg on the local market after wheat grain became costlier by Rs 200 per 100-kg sack during the last week, traders said on Wednesday. The country missed wheat crop target by three percent this year as the yield stood at 25 million tons, as traders have started importing wheat grain to meet the local demand. "Wheat grain price is up by Rs 200 per 100 kg bag on the wholesales market to Rs 3500 per 100 kg bag in the last one week," traders said, adding the increase in grain price occurred after the yield shortfall. As a result, traders said, the prices of wheat flour went up by Rs 2 per kg on the retail market. "Now, fine atta is selling at Rs 47 per kg and regular atta at Rs 42 per kg," they added.
